This course describes transportation barriers that impact persons who are blind or visually impaired and details NRTC research about how to overcome those barriers. Results from the customized transportation intervention, a national transportation survey, and a provider focus group are presented. (1-hour)

This course is available for CRC, ACVREP, and NBPCB credit.

Course Objectives:

  1. Describe transportation barriers impacting persons who are blind or visually impaired.
  2. Understand the complex issues associated with identifying, evaluating, and accessing transportation options.
  3. Identify the methods most people who are blind or visually impaired use to overcome transportation to work barriers.
  4. Locate and use resources for transportation planning with consumers who are blind or visually impaired.

This course was developed by the National Research & Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision (NRTC) at Mississippi State University.
