This course provides an overview of the structure of the eye, how vision works, and terminology that will be necessary to understand medical aspects of blindness and low vision.

This course is available for CRC, ACVREP, and NBPCB credit.

Course Objectives:

  1. Identify various structures of the eye.
  2. Understand how light travels through the eye and brings about one’s vision.
  3. Identify the different roles that the eye and brain play in the miraculous thing we call vision.

This course was developed by the National Research & Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision (NRTC) at Mississippi State University. We are the only national center funded to conduct research related to employment for people with blindness or low vision, and training and technical assistance for the federal Older Individuals who are Blind program.
